Learn Spanish online for beginners in the UK
Start with useful exchanges, then build the vocabulary and grammar needed to change them. KINTAVOR Spanish Step by Step is a self-paced online course for English-speaking adults: begin with A0 if you are new, or use the free placement test if you have studied before.
You do not need to begin with a long list of verb tables. Begin with something you want to say, understand the reply and practise making one small change. That makes a first lesson useful before you can hold a long conversation.
What should a beginner learn first?
Prioritise greetings, names, numbers, everyday questions and ways to ask for help. Learn a short exchange as a whole, listen again and notice which part changes when you replace a name, place or quantity.
Use English explanations to understand a pattern, then return to the Spanish example. Reading an explanation and recognising a phrase are useful steps; saying it without looking is a separate skill to practise.
- Listen once for the situation and again for the words.
- Read the example and identify one reusable pattern.
- Change a detail and say your own version aloud.
- Return to an earlier example before adding more vocabulary.
A manageable first week
Choose one short study slot that you can realistically repeat. In your first sessions, try the free mini-course, complete one lesson at a time and note two phrases you want to use. A short routine is a starting habit, not a promise to complete the whole course in a few weeks.
At the end of the week, revisit an exercise without your notes. If you can explain why an answer fits, move on. If you can only recognise it when the options are visible, repeat the example in a different situation.
How the course supports your start
The published pathway contains 180 lessons across the starter, A1, A2 and B1 stages, with exercises, listening, review activities and assessments. Your learning area keeps your place, so returning to an earlier topic does not mean starting again.
A0 is our starter label. The Council of Europe’s main CEFR scale begins at A1; completing private course activities does not by itself award an official language qualification.

Can I start with no Spanish at all?
Yes. The A0 starter stage is intended for first steps. If you already know some Spanish, the free placement test can help you choose a starting point.
Is the course taught through English?
The explanations are in English, while the phrases, listening and language practice are in Spanish.
Do I need to attend at a fixed time?
No. This is self-paced online study. It does not include scheduled live classes.
